Benefits
Significant advances in wind turbine technology and power plant capabilities are appearing in the US. Sites that only 10 years ago might have been overlooked are being considered for build out. However, the development of a skilled workforce in the siting, procurement, engineering, and construction trades lags the potential market, especially if the industry is expected to site, design, construct, and operate sufficient wind power plant sites to meet the Department of Energy's 20% wind energy goal by 2030. Know-how in this market is vital to achieve cost-effective, constructible solutions. To have a successful wind power plant buildout, you must carefully address many issues, including site layout and control, geotechnical and foundation assessment, site civil design, and substation and collector system design. In this course, you will learn about the critical factors of wind power plant structural/civil design and construction from a diverse, highly experienced, and expert course faculty that is involved in every aspect of wind power plant development, design, and construction. The course offers you: - Comprehensive, up-to-date information from practitioners, industry, and academia
- Wind energy policy considerations and the impact of third party engineering reviews
- An understanding of the mechanics and principles of structural loads on foundations, access roads, and support facilities
- An understanding of how the components of site layout and control interact with the design aspects of foundations, access roads, substations, and collector systems
- Detailed and specific components of wind power plant design (e.g., layout and control, material procurement, geotechnical issues and foundations, substation and collection system)
- Interactive learning through group discussions and in-course networking (course enrollment is limited to 75 individuals!)
