Flu Overview
It's flu season and time to take precautions to avoid all strains of influenza — including the H1N1 virus.
The health and safety of University of Wisconsin-Madison guests and employees are very important to us, so we are closely monitoring the flu situation and have taken steps to keep you up-to-date as your Engineering Professional Development (EPD) course date nears.
What is the current status of my course?
At present, all courses are proceeding as scheduled. If this changes, we will contact you immediately. If you are not sure of your course status, please call EPD Customer Service at 800-462-0876 between 8 am and 4:30 pm Central Time.
When should I avoid travel?
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends you avoid travel if you are sick with symptoms of influenza-like illness. Don't travel until seven days after symptoms begin or until you've been symptom-free for 24 hours — whichever is longer.
H1N1 symptoms include:
- Fever
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Body aches
- Headache
- Chills
- Fatigue
- Diarrhea and vomiting in some cases
How do I cancel my enrollment if I'm sick with flu symptoms?
EPD has suspended our cancellation policy for the duration of the flu season. If you need to cancel your course enrollment, you have three options:
- Apply your course fee to a future session of the course,
- Obtain a voucher for a different EPD course, or
- Request a refund.
Call Engineering Registration at 800-462-0876 for further information about your options.
