EPD by the Numbers
EPD offers the award-winning Master of Engineering in Professional Practice (MEPP), the automotive industry-recognized Master of Engineering in Engine Systems (MEES), and the Master of Engineering in Technical Japanese (METJ).
Each is an Internet-based distance degree program available to engineers and related technical professionals around the world:
- MEPP currently enrolls 65 students in its two-year program
- MEES has 55 students enrolled in the program, which spans 3 years plus one semester
- METJ has 14 active students, who have up to 5 years to complete their degree
In May 2008:
- MEPP graduated 27 students for a total of 216 alumni
- MEES graduated 14 students for a total of 23 alumni
- METJ graduated 5 students.
The following course data demonstrate the breadth of EPD's continuing education opportunities:
- 40 on-site, customized courses offered at locations requested by our clientele; 1000 enrollees
- 4 courses offered at a distance via audiographics teleconference system: 70 enrollees
- Railroad engineering: 9 course offerings for railroad and transportation engineers/consultants, railroad managers, track supervisors, inspectors and others
- Electric power: 40 course offerings for electric utility engineers, senior technicians, managers, and others
- Infrastructure engineering and management: approximately 75 course offerings for highway designers, traffic engineers, stormwater managers, other public works professionals
- Ammonia refrigeration: 12 course offerings and on-site training, emphasizing safety, best practices, and peak performance/efficiency, and the Industrial Refrigeration Consortium
- Chemical and process engineering: 20 course offerings for process/production engineers, process chemists and biochemists, research scientists, managers and others
- Building mechanical systems: 40 course offerings emphasizing HVAC, ventilation, piping and commissioning for mechanical/plant engineers, architects, contractors
- Building code, maintenance and inspection: 15 course offerings for building inspectors, architects, planners, builders; two courses in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Commerce
- Commissioning process provider certification*: awarded to 139 building professionals who successfully completed the building commissioning curriculum and exam
- Project and engineering management: 10 course offerings for a wide variety of professionals leading design, construction, and engineering projects.
- Maintenance management certificate: for maintenance professionals, materials and purchasing managers, plant managers, and professionals with related product, process or facility responsibilities.
- Operations management certificate: for VPs, directors and managers of manufacturing and operations, general managers, plant managers, industrial managers, production control managers and staff, planners and master schedulers, design and process improvement engineers, materials/inventory managers, procurement managers, MIS managers, systems administrators, and controllers.
- Laser welding certificates: two certificate series are available that incorporate the guidelines of ISO, FDA, and AWS to provide the best practice standards for the laser welding industry.
- Technical leadership certificate*: for technical professionals transitioning into managerial and leadership roles.
